According to our textbook, PLS means Primary Language Support which can be defines as “Using a student’s home language during English as a second language (ESL) or sheltered-English content-area instruction to make the English instruction more comprehensible.” For this research activity I called up my nephew who is an ELL and his L1 is Spanish. He said that his experiences with PLS at school is somewhat on the positive side. The teachers and para professional (most of them) spoke his language, that is, Spanish. He did not face any problem here.
